Earl J. "Flash" Stewart 96 of Manor died peacefully Friday April 6, 2018 in Walden's View Care Home. He was born April 26, 1921 in Jeannette a son of the late Gilbert and Alma (Nedley) Stewart. He was a life member of the First Baptist Church of Jeannette. Earl graduated from Jeannette High School class of 1939. He was formerly employed at the Elliott Co of Jeannette and retired from Westinghouse Printing Division of Trafford in 1987. He was also the co-owner of the Stewarts Arlington Grille formerly of Jeannette. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Marie (Calabris) Stewart, a brother Gilbert "Pinky" Stewart and sisters Helen Radzevick, Louise Leeches and Katherine Keenan. In his resume Flash played football for the Jeannette Industrials and then the Duquesne Iron Men, was a Charter Member of the Fort Pitt Raiders, a Charter Member of the Fort Pitt Sportsmen Club, former member of the Jeannette Harriers under coach Bill Greis, Life Member and past Assistant Chief of the Manor Volunteer Fire Department, Past President of the Westmoreland County Firemen's Association, Past President of the Westmoreland County Fire Chief's Association, Past Big Chief of the Mohawks of the Westmoreland County Firemen's Association, Honorary Member of the Harrison City Volunteer Fire Department, Member of the Penn Township Senior Citizens, Former Member of the Manor Borough Council, Past Owner of Gibby's Hunting Lodge in Jefferson County, associated with the Boy Scouts for 35 years and was a five gallon blood donor for the Red Cross. He is survived by his sons Richard Stewart and his wife LuAnne of Tampa, FL, Robert Stewart and his wife Karen of North Huntingdon and Randy Stewart of Daytona Beach, FL, two grandchildren Robert Stewart and his wife Dawn of Manor and Kelly Stewart Brady and her husband Reggie of Waterford, MI, five great grandchildren Marissa, Samantha, Jaiden, Ethan and Owen and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Mason-Gelder Funeral Home Inc. 201 N. First St. Jeannette. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Charles Bowser officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
