Jean Chiapparelli, 89, of Jeannette passed away January 3, 2018 in Arden Courts, Monroeville following a tough battle with dementia.  She was born, May 10, 1928 in Turtle Creek, a daughter of the late Lamont and Lena Culbert Reid.  Jean was a long-term member of Grace United Church of Christ Jeannette and the Women's Auxiliary of the Jeannette American Legion Post #344 as well as other social organizations.  During Jean's working years, she was employed as a caregiver to many.  Whether a lunch aid at school, private duty aide or babysitter, Jean provided care and was always the neighborhood Mom to rescue sick or hurt neighborhood children until their mom could arrive.  In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, and the love of her life, Arthur "Chip" Chiapparelli, a step-mother, Anna Mae Reid, two sisters, Isabell Cima and Esther Fletcher and a son-in-law, Larry Carlson.  She is survived by three daughters, Karen Battiston and husband Robert, Rhoma Carlson, both of North Huntingdon and Rene Robinson and husband Doug of Irwin, grandchildren; Wendy Walker, Lisa Battiston, Ethan Andrew Battiston and wife Laura, Marnie Carlson, Rachel and Ryan Robinson, great-grandchildren, Vincent and Colin Walker, Joshua Briz, Eli, Sully and Everett Arthur Battiston and numerous nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette.  A funeral service will be held Saturday at 12:30 pm in the funeral home with Rev.
