Joan (Schmidt) Sacket

Joan Sacket, 81, of Jeannette, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. She was born July 29, 1936, in Jeannette, a daughter of the late Emmett and Dorothy (Laughrey) Schmidt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Sacket Sr.; sisters, Mary Shrum, Carol Hilty and Sandy Highlands; and a brother, Robert Schmidt. Joan was a member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral, and prior to retirement worked in housekeeping for the Sisters of Charity at Seton Hill. She enjoyed going to flea markets, doing puzzles and playing bingo. Joan is survived by her daughter, Cindy Ozzello and husband, Dennis, of Jeannette; son, Robert A. Sacket Jr. and wife, Amy, of Jeannette; sister, Emily Feola, of Greensburg; three grandchildren, Justin Geier, Margaret (Ozzello) Calkins and husband, Charlie and Joseph Ozzello; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Barb, Valerie and Jennifer from Newhaven Court for the loving care they gave to Joan. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 8, in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette. Parting prayers will be said at 9 a.m. Friday in the funeral home, and a funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park.
