John D. Crawford

John Dexter Crawford 90, passed away peacefully at his home in Fayetteville, GA on January 19, 2019.  He was born July 11, 1927 in Jeannette the son of the late Louis and Martha (Gantt) Crawford.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Sheila, his daughter Mamie, his sister Etta Mae, paternal grandparents Emma and Joe Crawford and his maternal grandparents Rev. and Mrs. (Etta) Hick Gantt.  He was a veteran of the US Air Corps and a recipient of the WWII Medal of Victory.  He worked at American Saint Gobain as a laborer and retired from the Elliott Company as a laborer.  After his retirement from the Elliott Company, he worked at the Blind Association in Greensburg.  He is survived by his children Antoinette, John Henry, Cheryl, Patricia, Juanita, Rodney (Anita), David (Christina, Jamie (Nikole) and Sonya, his sister Helen Guest, 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and his extended family "The Berry's".  Friends will be received Friday from 1-3 and 5-7 PM in the Mason-Gelder Funeral Home Inc. 201 N. First St. Jeannette.  Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home.  Interment with military rites will follow in Brush Creek Cemetery.  To send online condolences visit www.mason-gelder.com.
