Ritta K. Hood, 89, a lifelong resident of Penn Township, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016. A daughter of Frank and Susan Kapusta Kolleda, she was born November 18, 1926. She retired from Greensburg's Westmoreland Hospital, where she worked as a switchboard operator, the same position that she held years earlier at Bell Telephone Company in Jeannette. During the intervening years, Ritta was a homemaker who enjoyed, in addition to family time, interacting with her beagles, cats, and nature; gardening and bird watching were two of her favorite pastimes. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell E. Hood, and siblings Anne Garufi, Lucy Floyd, John Kolleda, Rudolph Kolleda, Vernon Kolleda, Frank Kolleda, and Vincent Kolleda. She is survived by daughters Jenine Atoji (David) of Raleigh, NC, Robin Roscher (Carmen Bartuccio) of Penn Township, and Susan Baker of Penn Township, as well as grandchildren Kristen Conway (Lance), David Roscher (Melissa), and Michael Baker, and great granddaughter Kaylee Conway. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service that will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. In the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette.
