Robert E. Hite, Sr., 90, of Penn died Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in St. Anne Home, Greensburg.  He was born July 19, 1927 in Connellsville, a son of the late Henry Earl and Bessy Dermer Hite.  Prior to retirement he was a driver for Lincoln Coach Lines.  He was a US Army veteran having served during WWII, and a member of Penn Zion Lutheran Church and the American Legion.  He had a life long love of baseball and played for the Detroit Tigers in the late 1940's.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sarah Jean Hite.  He is survived by his wife, E. Ruth "Sis" Heffelfinger Hite of Penn, two sons, Robert Hite, Jr. and his wife Roberta of Jeannette and Demaree R. Hite and family, grandchildren, Melissa Skiffen and her husband Gary of Penn Twp. and Joshua Hite of Penn, a great-grandson, Keifer Skiffen and numerous brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.  There will be no visitation.  All services are private.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Nickers N Neighs, Attn:  Becky Kostley, 260 Mountain Trails Lane, Acme, PA 15610 - Please make checks payable to Stoneybrook Foundation.  Robert's family would like to thank the staff of St. Anne Home for their compassionate care.
