Bruce O'Brien Obituary

Bruce “Butch” O’Brien, 1951-2024
Surrounded by his loving family, Butch ‘turned around’ for the last time, on Monday, April 8, 2024, as he peacefully passed away reuniting with his beloved Wife, Dena “Noni” O’Brien [Stevenson], in eternity.
Butch, 72, originally from Greensburg, Pennsylvania, was the son of the late Dorothy and Theodore O’Brien.  He was seen as the man who could fix anything by his children, son, Casey O’Brien, and his daughter, Shannon [O’Brien] Hines, his daughter-in-law, Wendy O’Brien, and son-in-law, Jason Hines.  He was lovingly referred to as, “Puppy” by his seven surviving grandchildren, who will painfully grieve his loss, Gavin “Goomer” O’Brien (20), Grant “Peewee” O’Brien (17), Bradly Hines (15), Beckett Hines (13) Grace “Princess” O’Brien (12), Boden “Bo” Hines (10), and Baylor Hines (9).  He was known to get the kids all riled up with his ‘Walleguzer’ stories and rough housing, rarely missing a chance to spend time with his grandkids.
Butch is predeceased by his brother, Gary O’Brien, and survived by his sisters, Barbara [Fred] Williams, and Staci [Jason] Bush.  He is likewise survived by his sister Pamela Naples and brother-in-law Jay Naples who he considered not just family but friends.  Butch is survived by a number of adoring nieces and nephews.  Butch is also survived by several cousins.  He was a stranger to no-one and made friends everywhere he went, and as a result is survived by numerous friends who will greatly miss his company.
Butch was an employee with the Elliot Company in Jeannette, and a long-term employee of the General Motors Company.  He loved playing golf, fishing, camping, bowling and enjoying a fine glass of wine with his family and friends.  He served in the United States Army from 1971-1973.
Please join family and friends to celebrate the life of Butch O’Brien at the Mason-Gelder Funeral Home, on Friday from 2-4 p.m., and 6-8 p.m.  The funeral service for Butch will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., in the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. To send online condolences visit www.mason-gelder.com.
