Edgar "Eggs" Lavelle, 94, of Irwin, formerly of Jeannette, died Tuesday, November 6, 2018 in RNC of Greater Pittsburgh. He was born March 31, 1924 in Jeannette, a son of the late Charles and Catherine Evans Lavelle. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during WWII. Prior to retirement he was a dockworker at Helms Express. He was a member of Paintertown Volunteer Fire Department, a life member of Claridge American Legion Post #260, Penn Rod and Gun Club, VFW Post #8240 of Jeannette, Polish Brotherhood of White Eagle, Jeannette, Teamsters Local #30, Shafton Fire Department and Jeannette American Legion Post #344. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Bernice Tray Lavelle, a daughter, Janice Lavelle, siblings Charles, William, Earl,and Edmund Lavelle and Ruth Pietropaoli and his friend and companion, Mary Lou Throm. He is survived by four children, Edgar Lavelle and his wife Donna of FL, Denny Lavelle and his wife Karen of Irwin, Diana Wherry and her husband Tom of Irwin and Nancy Marco and her husband Bobby of Irwin, 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Friday from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00pm in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette. A blessing service will be held Saturday in the funeral home at 10:00 am with Fr. Chad Ficorilli officiating. Interment with military rites will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Irwin.
