Ruth Carolyn Torau, 90 of Jeannette, died Friday, November 2, 2018 at home. She was born December 28, 1927 in Jeannette, a daughter of the late Thomas and Stella Apple Macdonald. She was a member of Harrold Zion Lutheran Church, Greensburg and a previous member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Jeannette. She was the Jeannette AARP Senior Tour Director, a Girl Scout leader for 20 years, in charge of Westmoreland County day camps in the '60s, and a member of the Couples Card Club and Ladies 500 Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry John Torau, four great-grandchildren, and siblings: Elaine Lesser, Grace Priester, Eleanor Bowers and Thomas McDonald, Jr. who died in WWII. She is survived by two children, Barbara Rigoni of Jeannette and Barry Torau and his wife Debbie of Ligonier, four grandchildren; Heather Rigoni, Jeremiah Rigoni, Sarah Boring and Barry "BJ" Torau, Jr., three great-grandchildren, Gunar, Adley and Kinsleigh, a sister-in-law, Ann Drury of Irwin and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Monday from 2:00 - 4:00pm and 6:00 - 8:00pm in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 201 N. First St., Jeannette. Additional viewing will be held Tuesday from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am in Harrold Zion Lutheran Church, 671 Baltzer Meyer Pike, Greensburg with Pastor John Smaligo officiating.
