He enjoyed spending time with those he loved. He was an avid sports fan, especially about baseball, and was quite the athlete with the Perryopolis High School baseball team. Soon after meeting and marrying the love of his life, the couple relocated to Valparaiso, Indiana where Bernie began work at Midwest Steel. In Valparaiso, they started and raised their family. In between family and work, Bernie was quite the handyman and landscaper, and enjoyed remodeling projects and gardening, both for himself as well as for friends and family.  Friends will be received from Friday in the Mason-Gelder Funeral Home Inc. 201 N. First St. Jeannette from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 PM at which time a funeral liturgy will take place.  Inurnment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery in Perryopolis.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to The Arbor Day Foundation.
