Clarence D. "Cope" Copeland Jr. 94 of Jeannette passed away Sunday December 24, 2023 at home lovingly cared for by his wife Vidie. Cope was born October 14, 1929 in Jeannette a son of the late Clarence Sr. and Gertrude (Frey) Copeland. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Pat Copeland Mull. Cope graduated from Jeannette High School and the University of Pittsburgh. After serving in the US Army during the Korean War, he was employed by General Tire and Volkswagon. He then worked for Design Systems as a Consulting Industrial Engineer until he retired in 2005. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Jeannette where when he was younger he was a member of the Choir and served as an usher. Cope was a member of the Jeannette Lions Club, American Legion Post 344 of Jeannette and a Bocci League. Cope is survived by his wife of 68 years Vidie (Gunther) Copeland, a son David Copeland and his wife Joanne of Ligonier, his beloved granddaughter Jessica Copeland McIlroy and her husband Killian of Columbus, OH, his precious great grandson Nohr McIlroy, a brother Jack Copeland and his wife Pat of North Huntingdon; brother in law and sister in law Sonny and Betty Dropik of Greensburg and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Cope will be remembered as a great dad, grampa, uncle, loving husband and his kindness and sense of humor. Cope's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Excela Hospice, Sandy, Darcy and Amber for their outstanding care. Honoring his wishes there will be no viewing. A memorial mass celebrating Cope's life will be held Saturday January 13, 2024 at 10:00 AM in Ascension Church, Jeannette. Inurnment will be in Twin Valley Memorial Park.
