Dorothy Gaudi Obituary

Dorothy “Dora” Gaudi, 98, of Jeannette died Monday, September 8, 2025 in Redstone Highlands, Greensburg. She was born August 10,1927 in Clarksburg, WV, a daughter of the late Rev. Alexander and Rose Vallo Moccia. Dora graduated from Washington Irving High School, Clarksburg, WV and received a Business Degree at Salem College in Salem, WV. After marrying Paul, Dora moved to Jeannette in the early 1950’s where she began her business career in Pittsburgh. Following a 12 year employment as a Business teacher in the Jeannette School District, Dora was employed by the Jeannette Recreation Department for 2 years and the Jeannette Code Office for 3 years. From 1978-2002, Dora was elected as the Jeannette City Treasurer for 6 consecutive terms. During her 24 years as Treasurer, Dora had a special way of making the residents of Jeannette feel supported, respected and cared for; whether it was guiding someone through a difficult financial time, offering words of encouragement, or simply listening when someone needed to be heard. She concluded her career at the age of 82 as the City Controller from 2002-2010. Dora was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ as a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jeannette for 75 years where she served as an Elder, Deacon, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School Director, other numerous church committees, and a member of the Handbell Choir. For 60 years, Dora was a devoted member of her ladies’ card club cherishing the friendships, laughter, and countless hands played over the decades. She also loved to cook and bake and delighted in sharing her favorite Italian dishes and goodies with her family and friends. Dora was an enthusiastic avid supporter of her favorite local high school, college, and professional sports teams. Because of her loving spirit, Dora will always be remembered for the impact she made on everyone she met, especially her family, friends, grandchildren and great-grandsons. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the compassionate staff and the excellent care Dora received at Redstone Highlands, Greensburg. In addition to her parents Dora was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years Paul J. Gaudi and her siblings; John Moccia, Rev. Virgil Moccia, Carmella Schnautz and Pauline Nespeca. She is survived by her beloved family; children Jerry “Yitzer” Gaudi (Jane) of Owings Mills, MD, Marcia Aducci (John) of North Huntingdon, Linda Gaudi of Centerville, VA and Doreen Gaudi (Rich Mock) of Jeannette; three grandchildren C.J. Aducci (Nikki), David Aducci and Tara Gaudi (Mark Wolfe); three great-grandsons John, Sam and Max Aducci; a special family friend, Jon Soles, of Jeannette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
