Elizabeth B. Lipyance, 85, of Greensburg, died September 23, 2023, at Westmoreland Manor, surrounded by her family. She was born May 12, 1938, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Peter and Christine (Roth) Smith.
Elizabeth, known affectionately as "Betty" or “Mrs. Lip” by those who cherished her, touched the lives of countless individuals throughout her 85 years. Prior to retirement, she worked for more than 40 years as a head cook at several restaurants in Greensburg, including Hillview, Brothers II, and Parkwood Inn.
She enjoyed walking her beloved dog, Scotty, and witnessing for the Lord. She likely made several trips around the globe, always walking as much as she could with Scotty, her faithful walking companion. She also found pleasure by being in the kitchen and preparing meals and delicacies for her family. She always told the family and friends at her dining table, “If you go away hungry, it’s your own fault.”
Her life was a testament to her passion for service to the Lord. Betty dedicated herself to witnessing to as many people as she could, spending her time and resources to make the world a better place in the eyes of Him.
Betty is predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Thomas F. Lipyance; survived by her two daughters, Donna Lipyance and spouse, Melinda Morris, of Latrobe; Doreen Kutzler and spouse, Paul, of Robesonia, and son Donald Lipyance and spouse Sheila, of Hunker; sisters, Margaret Thompson, of Latrobe; Joan Smith, of Greensburg; brothers, Joseph Smith and spouse, Regina of Greensburg; Ron Kinsey, of Latrobe; Ed Lipyance and spouse Becky, of Ft. Myers, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the dedicated, supportive, and phenomenal team and staff who loved and cared for Mom over the years from Westmoreland Manor and ProMedica Hospice. The level of care provided by the team is, in our opinion, the best in southwest PA. Your compassion and dedication, even when she cast a “stink eye,” made her days brighter and more comfortable, and your kindness will always be remembered.
