Frank Bert Hodges, 88 of Jeannette, formerly of Lancaster, PA, passed away Sunday September 25,2022 surrounded by his loving family. Frank was born in College Park, MD to the late Elmer A. and Thelma Booth Hodges. He was preceded in death by his brother, Elmer E. Hodges, and his half-brother Bobby Selph. Frank grew up in Buckingham, VA and Maryland. He was a proud Sergeant in the US Marine Corps and served in the Korean War. Frank was a man of many talents. He was an electrical engineer with NASA, where he met many astronauts. He owned and ran Riverside Bar & Grill in Buckingham, VA. He was the Plant Engineer/Manager for many textile mills. Later in life he became the proud owner of Hodges Inspection Services, which he ran with his son Matt. Twice he received the ASAI National Award for Home Inspector of the year. Frank was a kind and faithful man who cherished the Lord, his family, friends, and community. He was a proud member of the Jeannette American Legion, Stonewall Masonic Lodge in Arvonia, VA and a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder Trustee. Frank was an avid hunter and fisherman but also enjoyed playing his guitar. He always looked forward to spending time at the second home in Estero, FL. In his downtime, he liked to binge watch western movies and Fox News. He loved his wife’s baking, especially her apple pies. His greatest treasure in life was his family, whom he loved dearly. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Janice Colosimo Smarto; children, Kelly Hodges, Matthew Hodges (Jody) and Angela Morris (Ray); grandchildren, Jessica Lester (Bubba), Clif Noble, Derek Woodson (Briana), Chad Woodson (Kaitlin) and Madyson Hodges; great grandchildren, Lydia Lester, Thomas and Lilah Noble; step-children, Atty John Smarto (Atty Emily), Jacqueline Smarto Litrun (Shawn), Justine Smarto McCabe; step- grandchildren, Brittany Williams, John Smarto (Lindsey), Gregory Williams (Jordan), Brooke Williams ( Khaliq Coleman), Domenico Smarto, Alexandra Pohl (Austin Ulm),Italia Smarto, Abigail Pohl, Anthony McCabe; step-great grandchildren, Giavonna Coleman, Eliana Coleman and Carmen Williams; half-sisters, Roxie Selph Cobb (Wylie) and Patty Selph Harlan (Tommy). A viewing will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday September 30, 2022, at Mason-Gelder Funeral Home, 201 N 1st St. Jeannette, PA 15644. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church of Greensburg. Entombment will follow at Twin Valley Memorial Park Mausoleum.
