Franklin D.R. Smith

Franklin D.R. Smith, 88, of Jeannette died Monday March 2, 2022 in Hempfield Manor, Greensburg. He was born May 15,1933 in Arona, a son of the late Richard and Anna (Oplinger) Smith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Emma Jane (Cross) Smith, his second wife Mildred Smith, grandsons Justin Smith and James Sherbine, brothers Richard, Lloyd, Clyde Smith; sisters Margaret Rodgers, Dorothy Loucks, Mildred Darnley, Elizabeth Dibble, Madeline Smeltzer and Anna Marie Greenawalt. Franklin worked as a laborer at Jeannette Glass and Shusters Builders and was a member of Westmoreland County Law Enforcement, State Sheriffs association, American Motorcycle, Jeannette Auxiliary Police & Ambulance Service. Surviving are his children Kenneth James Smith & Becky of Irwin, David Smith & Darla of N.C, Sharon Bolkovac & Palmer of Arnold, Joy Sherbine & Carl of Mt. Pleasant, step son Eugene Smith of TX, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from Noon-4PM  on Sunday March 6 in the Mason-Gelder Funeral Home, Inc. 201 N. First St.Jeannette Pa. Interment will follow on Monday at 10am in the Jeannette Memorial Park.
