Gerald A. Long, Sr. 83 of Jeannette died Friday July 23, 2021 at home. He was born October 12, 1937 in Jeannette, son of the late William and Helen (Golomb) Long. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Carol Berlin. Prior to retirement, Gerald worked as an accountant and accounting manager for Westinghouse and Bombardier, and was a teacher at Seton Hill University and Westmoreland County Community College. Gerald proudly served in the United States Army and was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Jeannette, and St. Vincent Basilica, Latrobe, where he was a lector and usher. He also enjoyed playing the accordion, gardening, cooking, walking, computers, and spending time with his family. Surviving are his beloved wife of 54 years Dolores (Terek) Long; sons Gerald A. Long, Jr. and his fiancé Gina Burnett of Adamsburg, Gregory Long and his wife Heidi of Greensburg; daughter Justine Long of Jeannette; sister Janet Riccardino and husband Donald of Jeannette, niece Barbara Ciarkowski and husband David of Jeannette, 2 grandchildren: Dale Long and Hunter Long and fiance Ashlynn Hemminger, 3 great-grandchildren: Izabella Long, Brentley Long, and Jaxson Long, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gerald’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org. Offering masses can be made for Gerald at Sacred Heart Church in Jeannette. Mason-Gelder Funeral Home, Inc. is assisting the family with arrangements.
