Gerald D. "Jerry" Serra

August 31, 1946 ~ February 19, 2021 (age 74)


Gerald D. "Jerry" Serra 74 of Jeannette passed away Friday February 19, 2021 in UPMC Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh.  He was born August 31, 1946 in Greensburg a son of the late David and Helen (Wnorowski) Serra.  He was previously employed at the former ASG Industries in Jeannette and retired from the Jeannette School District.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother George Dopkosky and a sister Helen Dopkosky.  Surviving are his wife Eileen (Marco) Serra, two children David Serra and his wife Sherry of Harrison City and Gina DeCaro and her husband Michael of New Stanton, four grandchildren Zachary and Calista Serra, Michael A. DeCaro and his wife Lauren and Nicholas DeCaro and his wife Courtney, two great grandchildren Anthony and Mia DeCaro, a brother Robert Dopkosky and his wife Lala, a sister in law Antoinette Dopkosky, two brothers in law John Marco and Bobby Marco and his wife Nancy and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was a member of the Jeannette Italian Club, Polish Brotherhood of White Eagle and VFW Post 8340 all of Jeannette.  He was an avid bowler, shuffleboard and bocce player, loved the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates and hunting and fishing with his son, grandchildren and friends.  Friends will be received Wednesday from 3-6 PM in the Mason-Gelder Funeral Home Inc. 201 N. First St. Jeannette.  Funeral service and interment will be private.  All CDC guidelines will be followed including building capacity limits.  Masks are required.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the donor's favorite charity.  To send online condolences visit
