Gregory Deane Matthews, 71, of Jeannette passed away Monday March 12,2018 at home. He was born September 5,1946 in Greensburg, a son of the late Deane S. and June H. (Chew) Matthews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jeanne M. (Hudak) Matthews. Greg served in the U.S. Army, was an extremely active member and deacon at the Grace United Church of Christ, Jeannette and retired after 40 years as a Machinist at WABCO. He enjoyed woodworking, being a craftsman and landscaping his yard.Greg is survived by his daughters Rachel Matthews of Seattle and Rebecca Schaefer and her husband Brian of Kentucky; cherished granddaughter Olivia Schaefer; sisters Janet Ali and her husband Azam of D.C, and Diane Altier and her husband John and nephew Johnny of Jeannette . Visitation will be held on Friday March 16th from 2-4 & 6-8PM in the Mason-Gelder Funeral Home Inc. 201 N. First St. Jeannette. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11am with Rev. Lindsay-Bignell at the Grace United Church of Christ 119 N. Second St. Jeannette. EVERYONE PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH. Interment will follow at Brush Creek Cemetery, Irwin.
