James L. Weiss, 63, of Jeannette passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 6, 2019 surrounded by his family in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital due to complications from pneumonia. He was born April 20, 1956 in Jeannette, the son of Geraldine "Gerry" Anderson Weiss of Jeannette and the late William H. Weiss. Jim is preceded in death by a sister, Barbara J. Weiss. Jim worked at McDonalds and later at the ARC workshop. He enjoyed anything Pittsburgh Sport related. He was a kind and gentle soul, always willing to help and a friend to all. In addition to his mother, Jim is survived by his sisters, Sue Fitzgerald and husband Kirk of Kittanning and Kathy Criner and husband Donald of Jeannette, brother William and husband Robert Lessman of Greensburg and nieces Sarah Criner Taylor and husband Jonathan, Kelsey Criner Blahovec and husband Zachary and Kala Fitzgerald, great-nephew and niece, Cole and Emilia Taylor, his extended family at the WILA House, all staff and special friends, Ronnie,. Gerry and Wa'el. Friends will be received Friday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm in the MASON-GELDER FUNERAL HOME, INC.. 201 N. First St., Jeannette. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:00 am in the funeral home with Rev. Nick Raimondo officiating. Interment will follow in Jeannette Memorial Park.
