John A. Allen

John A. Allen, 80, of Grovetown GA, formerly of Jeannette, died Monday July 19, 2021 at home.  He was born October 13, 1940 in Greensburg, a son of the late John W. and Elizabeth (Ernette) Allen. He relocated to Georgia last year to spend more time with his grandchildren.  He retired from Diamond Pharmacy Services in Indiana where he worked as a pharmacist after having worked at multiple local pharmacies over the years. John served as a pharmacist in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 344, Grandview Volunteer Fire Department, the Jeannette Historical Society, and a former member of the BPOE.  He was a member of St. Paul’s Church in Greensburg. He is survived by his wife Kathleen (Lapina) Allen, two sons Michael Allen and his wife Jennifer Allen of Evans, GA and Matthew Allen and his wife Lindsay Mauck of Philadelphia, three grandchildren Olivia Allen, Michael Bennett Allen and John Wesley Allen and numerous nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Mason-Gelder Funeral Home Inc. 201 N. First St. Jeannette.  A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday at 10:00 AM in St. Paul's Church 820 Carbon Rd, Greensburg.  Interment with military rites will be Tuesday at 2:00 PM in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Jeannette Historical Society or the American Cancer Society.  To send online condolences visit http://www.mason-gelder.com.
