John L. Carnathan Sr. 73 of Jeannette, Pennsylvania, went to live with Jesus on Wednesday April 12, 2023
Born in Jeannette, Pennsylvania on May 26, 1949, he was the son of Pamela Carnathan and Leonard Carnathan.
He was a graduate of Jeannette High School class of 1967.
John worked 50 years for PPG Industries prior to retiring in 2018. He held a variety of roles over the years for PPG mainly focused in maintenance/repair of the worksites. John had numerous certifications for tasks involving; electrical, HVAC, plumbing, as well as safety.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Cheryl Carnathan, Son John Carnathan Jr. (Danielle), Son Brian Carnathan (Stefanie). Additionally, he is survived by his grandchildren, Christian, Loren, and Erin. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Edward Carnathan.
John was a family first man his entire life. He and his wife Cheryl enjoyed cruising vacations. They spent 50 plus weeks of their time aboard a cruise ship sailing the Caribbean, Bahamas, Bermuda, and the entire US and Canadian Coast. He enjoyed coaching his sons in sports at a young age as well as teaching them all of his handyman skills around the house. He Loved spending time fishing and hunting as well as cheering on his local sports teams. John was a frequent fan at all home Jeannette Jayhawk games, and he loved to attend Pitt Panther games as well as Pittsburgh Penguin games. After retirement John bought a camp. It was a life-long dream to have a camp he could call his own. He spent a great deal of the past few years at camp and loved every minute of it. The family would like to thank Excela Hospice especially Tamika and Amber for their excellent care.
