John Raymond “Ray” DeSanty Jr., 92, of Jeannette, passed away peacefully Wednesday April 1, 2026, in his home, surrounded by loved ones. He was born January 17, 1934, in Jeannette, a son of the late John Raymond DeSanty and Blanche (Williams) DeSanty. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Martin Tire. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, proudly serving his country and was a member Jeannette American Legion Post 344 for 51 years. He was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan, even attending a Pirates game at 90 years old. In the summer he often attended various local outdoor concerts, with his late wife Phyllis and in recent years he really enjoyed listening to live music at Jeannette food truck Thursday. He had a routine of indulging in his weekly chocolate cone from Dairy Queen. He always looked forward to family and friends game night playing cards, typically ending the night on the winning side. He also occasionally donated/won at the local casinos. He was preceded in death, January 2023, by his wife of 63 years Phyllis J. (Emerick) DeSanty; Edward and Bette Emerick, who treated him as a son more than a son-in-law; Son-in-law’s James Tuttle, Don Boyland; brother Robert DeSanty and sister Teressa (DeSanty) Frater. He was the last living member of his immediate family. He is survived by 3 daughters Sheree Boyland of Melbourne, FL, Sona Adamson (David) of Harrison City, and Deana DeSanty-Lewandowski (Joe) of Jeannette; Four grandchildren, Courtney Tuttle of FL, Sean Tuttle (Amanda) of FL, Nicolette Burger (Matthew) of TN and Dylan Adamson of PA; Five great grandchildren, Noah, Mya, Leo, Chloe and Silas all of FL. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Bridges Hospice for their compassionate care and support and to the dedicated caregivers from Home Instead. Honoring John’s wishes, there will be no visitations or funeral. Mason-Gelder Funeral Home, Jeannette, PA, had been entrusted with arrangements. Everyone who knew John’s sense of humor would find the timing ironic that he passed away on April Fool’s Day, so he had the last laugh.
