John J. Firment 73 of Jeannette died Wednesday March 23, 2022 at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. He was born May 22, 1948 in Latrobe, a son of the late Joseph A. "Red" Firment and Barbara M. (Forish) Firment. John was a 1966 Greensburg Central Catholic High School honors graduate and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history, Magna Cum Laude, from St. Vincent College in 1970. He was employed as a medical courier for Contractor Management Services LLC, was a member of the Citizens Club of Jeannette and the First Catholic Slovak Union (Jednota). John loved literature and learning. His book collection spanned a broad array of topics and he delighted in carefully selecting books as gifts, especially to his nieces and nephews, that were personally matched to their interests. John is survived by his siblings Joseph A. Firment Jr. and his wife Karyn of Turtle Creek, Suzanne Courtney and her husband Jim of Hidden Valley, Barbara Jean Firment of Greensburg, Sandra Gongaware and her husband Robert of Jeannette, Craig Firment of Latrobe, Mark Firment of Allentown and Michelle Jordan and her husband Jim of Jeannette, his step mother Suzanne Firment of Jeannette, step brother David Schenone and his wife Gail of Irwin, step sister Beth Schenone and her husband Cris Harpel of Allison Park and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. John was a gentle and caring man who will be deeply missed and will live in his family’s hearts forever. A private celebration of John’s life is planned. There will be no public viewing. Our family extends thanks to everyone who has helped us during this difficult time.
