Joseph V. Ponzetti Jr.

Joseph V. Ponzetti Jr. 68 of Jeannette died Saturday April 3, 2021 at home.  He was born December 17, 1952 in Merced, CA a son of the late Joseph V. Sr. and Ethel Jean (Cook) Ponzetti.  Prior to retirement he owned and operated Ponzetti's Flowers and Gifts.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Teresa Ann and Ethel Jean and an aunt Shirley Mae Maline.  He is survived by his partner Darrell Welsh, Joe's wife Kathy, three sons Joseph V. Ponzetti III and his wife Jennifer, Aaron Ponzetti, and Domenick Ponzetti and his wife Sarah, five grandchildren Olivia, Alexandria, Joseph IV, Dominico and Lorenzo, a sister Nelvia Novak and her husband Tim, two brothers William Ponzetti and his wife Dorrain and Anthony Ponzetti and his wife Sandy, special cousins Dee and Bob Houser, a sister in law Shirley Welsh, numerous nieces and nephews and his pets Sissy and Lucky.  Joe was a member of Ascension Church and loved his family including the family he made at Monsour Hospital and his deck crew friends.  Friends will be received Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Mason-Gelder Funeral Home Inc. 201 N. First St. Jeannette.  Please be prepared to follow all current CDC guidelines.  A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 AM in Ascension Church.  Everyone please meet at the church.  Joe donated his lungs to the Simmons Center at UPMC for the study of Pulmonary Fibrosis so in lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to them with a check made out to University of Pittsburgh or a charity of one's choice in his memory.  The family would like to thank Excela Hospice especially Lisa, Heather and Patti and special friends Cherie Weisel and the Dei family for the care they provided.  To send online condolences visit www.mason-gelder.com.
