Kathleen A. (Lapina) Allen

Kathleen A. Allen, 78, of Grovetown, GA, formerly of Jeannette, PA, died March 4, 2023 in Augusta University Medical Center, Augusta, GA.  She was born May 18, 1944 in Greensburg, PA, daughter of the late John J. Lapina Sr. and Katherine (Felentzer) Lapina.  Prior to retirement she worked as a Registered Nurse for numerous local facilities over the years including the Lowry Surgical Center, Westmoreland Hospital, Jeannette Hospital, and the office of Dr. Doncaster. She graduated from both Jeannette High School and the McKeesport Hospital School of Nursing.  She was Past President of the Jeannette Young Women's Club and was active with the Jeannette Historical Society. She was a member of St. Paul’s Church in Greensburg, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John A. Allen, two brothers John J. Lapina Jr. and Lawrence Lapina, and a sister in law, Carin Lapina.  She is survived by her two sons, Michael J. Allen and his wife Jennifer of Evans, GA and Matthew J. Allen and his wife Lindsay of Philadelphia, PA, two brothers Terence P. Lapina and William E. Lapina, three grandchildren Olivia Allen, Michael Bennett Allen and John Wesley Allen, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Friends will be received Sunday from 3-6 PM in Mason-Gelder Funeral Home Inc. 201 N. First St. Jeannette, PA.  Parting prayers will be held at 9:15 Monday in the funeral home followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 AM in St. Paul’s Church in Greensburg, PA. Interment will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
