Luretta Jane Volk, 92, of Irwin, passed into glory Monday September 12, 2022, at Elizabeth Seton Memory Care Center. She was born April 16, 1930, in Greensburg, a daughter of the late Emerson and J. Elizabeth Saltzman Griffin. She was an avid gardener and created hundreds of dried flower arraignments from wedding bouquets and other significant events. Her creations, entitled “ A Touch of Williamsburg”, ended up in homes both in and outside the USA.
She wrote poems and verse. In recent years, a collection of hers entitled “Poems by LUV, was granted a copyright in 2011.
She was a member of Jeanette Assembly of God in Jeanette and Calvary Assembly in Irwin.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Donald Neal Volk, three brothers, Burl, William and Russell Griffin; and three sisters, Florence Evelyn Geiger, Catherine Elizabeth Goslin and Mary Adela Griffin (Dee Dee). She is survived by three sons, Mark J Volk, David R (Kate ) Volk and Neil F ( Linda) Volk, grandchildren Brooke Stickle(Al), Benjamin Volk (Sarah), Elizabeth Volk Lape (Daniel), Jacob Volk(Stevie Rae), Rebecca Volk Dunnett ( Drake), Frances Johnson, Adam Johnson, 5 great grandchildren, various nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Tuesday September 13th from Noon until the time of service at 2PM in the Mason-Gelder Funeral Home, Inc. 201 N. First St. Jeannette with Pastor TJ Kroll officiating.
