Richard J. "Dick" Lawson formerly of Jeannette died Sunday May 15, 2022. He was born February 3, 1929 in Youngwood a son of the late Rueben and Rose (Rodgers) Lawson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Bo and Tom, sisters Dolly Lecas and Lee Ann Ruoff and his wife of 54 years Janet (Gasparato) Lawson. He is survived by his son Richard Lawson, daughter in law Kareen (Royer) Lawson and grandchildren, Joshua and Courtney Lawson. He served in the US Air Force in the Aleutian Islands and worked at the Elliott Company in Jeannette for more than 40 years. He taught countless kids as a scout leader, rifle instructor and basketball coach. He was an active member of Knights of Columbus #1222 and volunteered many years at the Sacred Heart Church Lenten Fish Fry with his wife. After retirement he spent much of his free time outdoors gardening and enjoying the trees and birds in the woods behind his house. Friends will be received Monday May 23 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Mason-Gelder Funeral Home Inc. 201 N. First St. Jeannette. A funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday May 24 at 11 AM in Sacred Heart Church, Jeannette with Fr. Job Foote as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
