Tammy Rae Gross (Greggerson) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
She was born in Jeannette PA at Monsour Hospital to Bernie Greggerson and Tywana 'Toni' Smith (Mehaffey)
She was married to Raymond Gross on July 22nd, 1978.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her niece, Tywana 'Tina' Droll, her sister Vicki Dixon (Greggerson), step father Robert Smith, and grandparents Margaret 'Peg' and Randolph Mehaffey.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Michael Gross and his wife Adina Gross (Oros), Jessica Girard (Gross), Scott Gross and his wife Kayla Gross (Wilson), Josh Gross and her grandchildren Serenity, Zaniyah, Ariana, and Oliver.
She is also survived by her sisters Valerie Mezeivtch (Greggerson), Randi Greggerson, Cheryl Greggerson, Peggy Blake (Greggerson), and Diana Klingensmith (Greggerson) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Westmoreland County Community College with high honors, making both President's and Dean's lists in 1997 with an Associates Degree in Human Services.
Before her illness she was employed by Passavant as an In-Home Care Aide for the mentally disabled. Before that, she was employed by Penn State as a social worker for Child Protective Services, and was a selfless foster parent, providing temporary safe harbor for many at-risk children, sometimes within a moment's notice.
Tammy was selfless, beautiful, smart, funny, independent, strong minded, and empathetic. She always found the good in others, always remained positive, always willing to help those in need. Alzheimer's took many things from Tammy. She had a passion for singing and in the end it had taken her voice, it took her mobility, it took her fine motor skills, and it took one of her most precious assets, her memories, however it could not take away her faith in God and the love buried deep in her heart. To know Tammy was to love her and she will be missed so much by everyone that knew her.
