William R. "Bill" Carroll

William R. "Bill" Carroll, 71, of Vandergrift died December 6, 2024 at home. He was born November 7,1953 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Eugene William and Sarah Helen (Todd) Carroll. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Jeannie Dolan, brother-in-law Kenneth Young, and his furry companion, Pugsley. Bill had been employed at Tampa International Airport as part of the grounds crew. He was, at one time, an accomplished golfer, and he always enjoyed a good game of competitive pool shooting. Bill was very knowledgeable about model trains and cars and other collectibles and enjoyed sharing that knowledge with others. He treated others with kindness, generosity, and a helpful spirit, all delivered with a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. The children in his neighborhood were often recipients of his generosity when he would give away toys and even new bicycles to those who appeared to be in need. In short, he was one of the “good guys”.   Surviving are his son Robert Carroll, sisters Nancy (Steve) Thomas of Greensburg, and Helen Young of Sarasota; niece Vivian Miller and nephew Nicolas Dolan.
