Bruno Joseph Mattucci

December 28, 1930 ~ January 30, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Bruno Joseph Mattucci 86 of Latrobe formerly of Jeannette passed away Monday January 30, 2017.  He was born December 28, 1930 in Avella PA a son of the late Dominick Sr. and Mary (Prudhone) Mattucci.  Bruno worked for a short time for the former McKee Glass Co. in Jeannette before enlisting in the Army in 1949.  He fought overseas as an artillery sergeant in the Korean War.  He was awarded the Korean Service Medal w/4 bronze stars and the Presidential Unit Citation.  This Citation is awarded to servicemen for extraordinary heroism in action.  Bruno was wounded in the war and for this he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal.  Bruno often remarked that he loved his country but hated the war.  Bruno then worked for a short time at the Elliott Co. in Jeannette and the former Hockensmith Corp. in Penn.  Until his retirement he was an owner/operator truck driver for Prism Trucking in Murrysville.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Jeannette, the former Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus #1222 of Jeannette, St. Vincent Assembly #918 of Latrobe, American Legion Post 344 of Jeannette, VFW Post 33 of Greensburg and the former All Seasons Club.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Shirley (Glunt) Mattucci in 1990,  six brothers Peter, Benedict, Joseph, Albert, Dominick Jr. and Emelio Mattucci, a twin Sister Gloria Hastings and a sister in law Gertrude Glunt.  Bruno is survived by a daughter Juliann Mattucci and her companion Joseph A. Reber of Latrobe, a granddaughter Nadine (Avolio) Shurland and her husband Lyttleton Sr. of Woodbridge, VA, a grandson Brandon M. Avolio and his girlfriend Jenna Reott, four great grandchildren Makayla Shurland, Lyttleton Shurland Jr. (LJ), Ethan and Owen Avolio, a brother Edward Mattucci of Jeannette, three sisters Lorraine Communale of High Park, Eva Stough of Lapel, Indiana, Mary Bastaich and her husband Paul of Kokomo, IN, a brother in law Charles Glunt and his wife Judy of Penn, a sister in law Sarah Mattucci of Jeannette and numerous nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Mason-Gelder Funeral Home Inc. 201 N. First St. Jeannette. The Knights of Columbus will hold a service in the funeral home at 6:30PM.  A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart Church Jeannette with Fr.
