Russell L. Gongaware Sr. 84 of Jeannette died Saturday July 16, 2016 in Hempfield Manor.  He was born November 27, 1931 in Jeannette a son of the late Lloyd and Lena (Siefert) Gongaware.  Prior to retirement he was employed by the Elliott Company and he was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Army.  He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Jeannette, American Legion Post 344, a former member of the Arlington Sportsman's Club and was active with Boy Scouts Troop 1.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Janet (Cataldo) Gongaware and three sisters Dorothy Lowstuter, Lois Jaffre and Marilyn "Jeannie" Hartman.  He is survived by his children Sherry Orange and her husband John Sr., Richard D. Gongaware and Marsha Gongaware all of Jeannette, three grandchildren John Orange Jr. and his wife Marilyn of Ashburnham, MA, Shelly Scolari and her husband Gino on Pinole, CA and Russell Gongaware III of Jeannette, four great grandchildren Mackenzie, Savannah, Eva and Russell IV, two brothers Jerry Gongaware and his wife Diane of Derry and Robert Gongaware of Jeannette, a sister Joyce Randolph of Jeannette and numerous nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Mason-Gelder Funeral Home Inc. 201 N. First St Jeannette.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:00 AM in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Jeannette with Rev.
